Camping with Your Canine Companion

Are you planning on camping with your furry friend this RV season? At Veurinks' RV Center, we notice that a large majority of our RVing customers love bringing their pets along for their camping adventures! (Of course, pets are always welcome here at Veurinks', too!)

A camping trip with your canine companion can be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Of course, it is important to plan ahead in order to provide both you and your pet with a safe and fun vacation.

1. Contact the Campground

Although most campgrounds are pet-friendly, it is important to clarify this before heading out on your journey. Make sure you also inquire about any other rules that the campground may have about bringing your pet along. Most campgrounds have regulations about leash lengths and leaving your pet unattended. It is always a good idea to be aware of these rules before your arrival!

2. Pack for your Pooch

Use this checklist to pack for your pet's camping excursion!

We found this helpful and printable camping checklist at LifeWithMutts.com! Check out their full post here for a more in-depth look on what to pack for your pet.

3. Stay Full and Hydrated

The first three essentials on the above checklist stress the importance of packing food and water for your furry friend. Your pet will need to keep the same eating/drinking schedule on your camping trip in order to stay happy and healthy. You can make this part of your trip easier by purchasing a portable pet dish such as The Pet King travel dish. You can find The Pet King in the Camp Store at Veurinks' RV Center! The Pet King will make keeping your pet full and hydrated easy with its carrying handle and two-in-one bowl design. Hurry in to our Camp Store at 7144 Division Ave S. Grand Rapids, MI 49548 today to pick up your Pet King!

4. Plan Pet-Friendly Activities

The campground can be a new and sometimes scary place for your pet. Remember to never leave your pet unattended! Make sure the activities that you have planned for your trip include your pet at all times.

5. Be Prepared and Have Fun!

With ample planning and the right essentials packed, camping with your furry family member is sure to be a fun and exciting experience. Nothing beats bonding with your best friend and enjoying the great outdoors as the smell of the campfire lingers.
