“Thanks God but where’s the Color TV?”

When our children were young we would celebrate Christmas by reminding them that God gave us His Son Jesus but also used this time as an opportunity to teach them the value of giving to those who were less fortunate than us.

During one Christmas season we contacted a local Women’s Shelter to see if they had anyone who needed some help. They of course had several women who did and gave us the contact information of a single mom who was homeless but recently found a place to live. She had two children and had nothing. She had given the shelter a list of items that they needed and the shelter in turn past the list on to us.

So on one afternoon we took the list and went shopping.  We bought many items like an assortment of clothes, dishes, silverware, pots and pans, toys, and even a couple of kid’s bikes.  We went grocery shopping and bought enough food to fully stock her pantry for a long time. We all had a lot of fun and bought everything on her list plus much more. One exception though, was a color TV that was on her list-that we did not buy.

With a loaded pickup truck we showed up at this mom’s home and backed the truck up to the front door where we were greeted by the mom and her two children. We all pitched in and unloaded everything. Inside the home it was empty with the exception of a small dinette set off from the kitchen. My wife Pat, took on the kitchen and began putting dishes away and stocking the pantry.  I was in the family room with my tool box assembling various items.

After a couple of hours we began to wrap things up and say our good byes. Then the mom says this. “Thanks for everything but where’s the color TV”? ................ Um say what?   Not sure we said anything and we pulled out of the driveway.  Down the road we went both Pat and I were silent for about 4 or 5 blocks. Then we could not hold back and the complaining and bashing was on. Things like “Can you believe her”?  “Who does she think she is”?  “Doesn’t she see that we gave her what she really needed”?  She does not appreciate this and wants a stupid TV instead”?  “Does she have any idea how much time and money we spent on her”?  On and on we went thinking the more we bashed her that somehow it would make our own hurt feel better.

Then we drove by a church and in the front yard was a nativity seen. Instantly I was convicted of what it meant and in the back of mind I heard this voice saying. “Tim so who do you think you are”? I have given to you my Son Jesus Christ as your Savior because I love you and you needed Him. You are a sinner but He is perfect and without sin. He gave sight to the blind, made the lame walk, spoke with all authority, walked on water, He gave the dead life. He loved and forgave sinners. He died for you and raised himself from the dead so you could have life.  He has always loved you and there is nothing you have ever done or could ever do to separate yourself from his gift of grace and love. Did I mention that He loves you? How often do you reduce me the Holy God to a cosmic Santa Clause asking for worthless things?  So do you think you can judge the motives of this mom?

Okay, Okay- I get it.

With those thoughts I said to Pat that our lack of gratitude is no different than that of this single mom. Pat said what do you mean?  I explained to her my conviction and that we celebrate this season because God has given us everything including His most precious Son so we can be saved from sin and have eternal life.  Yet we find ourselves being very ungrateful as well. Anytime we do not trust God and go our own selfish way we too are saying- “Thanks God but where’s the color TV”

I have a desire to Trust and Obey God every day and I am grateful that he loves me and has given me this great gift of his Son. I am also reminded that even when I am a knuckle head and start to focus on selfish desires. God still gently reminds me to have an attitude of gratitude I need to rethink what is really important.

11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:11 NIV
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. John 3:16-18 NIV

As you celebrate Christmas this year remember what God has done for you by sending His Son. God is always good and is worthy of our worship.
Merry Christmas to All!!

Mollee Veurink recently made some puppy chow this week....3 batches! So, here is the tasty recipe for your Holiday Parties. Whether you are RVing on the road this Holiday Season or just hanging around at home...this is the PERFECT treat to make.

It is the ultimate treat for entertaining.

Photo: 3 batches of Puppy Chow, anyone? YUM! I made this earlier this week and have gotten asked what recipe I used. Here is the recipe on the blog! I included your grocery list too!

So.GOOD ;D

http://somebymolleev.blogspot.com/2014/12/lets-eat-p-u-p-p-y-chow.html

I'm sure you have many holiday parties coming up, where you need to provide a tasty treat. Who doesn't love some peanut butter, chocolate, and a little crunch? If you don't like that....I don't know if we can be friends ;D
__________________________

I made 3 batches of this mix for my students at the school I work at, as well as my fellow co-workers. Let's just say, they were puppies CHOWING down! I bought some cute boxes from Hobby Lobby and some tags and wrote their names on them and personalized it.

My rule of thumb...presentation matters!!

Even if it is just
puppy chow in a box.

I have always used this recipe from
....so, hats off to you!

For those wondering...I bought 2 of the family sized Crispex Cereals (Rice or Corn will work.) This made 3 batches....I still had a little left of unused cereal in one of the boxes. Depending on how much you're making....hopefully this gave you an idea of how much to get at the store. I LOVE this recipe because it has just the right amount of ingredients. It's not too much powdered sugar, where it is too sweet, and it has just the right amount of peanut butter and chocolate!

Your Grocery List:
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
9 cups Crispix cereal (any flavor)
3 cups powdered sugar

How to whip it up:

1. Combine peanut butter, butter and chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl.
2. Microwave for one minute then stir to blend all ingredients thoroughly. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Stir well.
3. Place the 9 cups of Crispix cereal in a very large bowl.
4. Pour the peanut butter-chocolate mixture over the cereal and toss evenly, making sure all the cereal gets a good covering.
5. Place the powdered sugar in a large zip-lock type plastic bag.
6. Add the peanut butter-chocolate cereal mixture to the bag, leaving enough room for the puppy chow to be shaken (you may have to divide the mixture into smaller batches, coating one batch at a time).
7. Shake the bag vigorously to evenly coat each piece of the puppy chow with powdered sugar.
8. Once the mixture is fully coated, place in a large serving bowl.
9. Coat any additional pieces by shaking the mixture in the powdered sugar filled bag.  Add powdered sugar to the bag as needed until all the mixture is coated.

Enjoy this tasty recipe.
Whether you are entertaining or making it for you and your family....it'll top off your Holiday Season!

"As I am new to RV world, I have picked up several important tips. The one that resonates most with me would be the following: When you are checking into your campsite and you are about to back in or park your trailer, it is wise to have your wife, girlfriend, spouse, with the kids, take a tour of the campground so that you can park the trailer by yourself. As an argument or disagreement can arise very quickly if the spouse is there trying to “help” or “coach” you into your spot. By having them away you can prevent your camping trip from starting out with a argument." -Joel

When Joel isn't at work, he enjoys the following activities: Movie watching (I enjoy a good movie), reading (a good mystery of thriller.) He enjoys taking his 2 dogs for walks on the Kentwood walking trails and playing fetch at the local dog park....he has a German Shepard and Husky/Shepard mix. He really enjoys playing basketball, along with playing with his wife and friends on game nights (I enjoy winning!) Joel also loves traveling internationally. His first trip was in high school and that was built from being born in Guam. The countries he haas traveled to are Spain, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Greece, and Rome.

Joel's favorite place to go RVing is Oxbow Park in Newaygo, Michigan. He says it is a great place for year round vacationing with a beautiful lake to boat in and beach to swim.

"I love that people are very passionate about RVing. It is a great way to explore new places and meet new people. As North American is very expansive, and we don’t have a good transportation system that allows you to travel around the country, RVing allows you to do that with the comfort of home.  I admire people that want to “see it all” and an RV allows you to do that. I am seeing people of all ages taking up RVing and I realize that RVing is for everyone, whether it be with a pop-up or a fifth wheel. The options or endless if you want to hit the open road or camp each weekend at your favorite campground."

As a helpful RVing tip, Jordan says, "Always put your awning up and pack up your tents if there is a storm. We've had an awning wrecked and had to chase after a tent blowing away in the wind."

Jordan likes the RV industry because he loves how many different options there are and the various floor plans that are available. You have a variety to choose from and are sure to get your needs met, when selecting an RV for you and your family.

With all fun and games, Jordan won the award "Most Likely to Get Arrested in Public" at our company's holiday party a few nights ago. It was an ugly sweater themed party and the judges thought the outfit he was sporting would get him arrested!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 NIV
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.-I Thessalonians 5:18 NIV

Thanksgiving Day is a great time to be intentional and reflect on the things that we are thankful for.

Over the past few months I have been challenging myself in the area of thanksgiving. I have been trying hard to make it a daily discipline. This journey of contemplating my own level of gratitude has been quite eye opening.
_______________________________________________________________

A couple of areas I have been challenged with are in the areas of
B L E S S I N G S
life’s circumstances.
_______________________________________________________________

Here are a couple of my thoughts that I am working through:

1. Genuine thanksgiving is not selfish inflow but produces selfless outflow. Certainly, an attitude of thanksgiving would be to acknowledge and appreciate the blessings we have been given. However, it does not stop there and it is much more. I believe that true thanksgiving is also an attitude of giving and returning the blessings we have by using them to glorify the One who is the fount of every blessing God, Himself. This is usually played out when we show kindness in word and deed by transferring the fruit of those blessings to others.

2We are to be thankful in all circumstances. Now wait a minute, being a person of outflow is hard enough but being thankful in all circumstances, that is impossible. Well, without God, it is impossible. Sometimes people will say when life’s circumstances go their way that “God is good”. This is true and when this happens it should be celebrated. But is not God still good even when life’s circumstances deal us a blow or go a different way than we had planned? God says we are to trust Him in all situations.
_______________________________________________________________

T R U E
B L E S S I N G...
is experienced when we are in a humble posture and cry out to Him, remembering what He has done in the past and thankful that He also holds the future.
_______________________________________________________________

The nation of Israel, when set free from slavery, still faced challenges in the Promised Land. God told them to “Remember” the Lord their God and how he delivered them from the past. They also were to look beyond life’s obstacles, not negotiate their values because life was difficult, and they were to look toward God and trust Him no matter what.

My Great Grandmother in her Wisconsin Dutch accent would recite
Psalm 121: “I will lift mine eyes to the hills, from whence cometh my help”.

This Psalm was sung by the ancient Hebrew pilgrims who made their annual festival trek to the Temple of God. They had to look beyond the obstacles and dangers of the journey. Along the way, they would look toward the hills to the Holy City of Jerusalem for it was there were they would worship Almighty God. It was there were they would find hope and worship with thanksgiving (Ps 122). We too are called to remember what God has done. He also has given us eyes to “lift to the hills”. These eyes are the eyes of faith. It is with these eyes of faith that we can be sure and certain that what we hope for is real (Hebrews 11). It is with these eyes that we actually see the perfecter of faith, Jesus Christ, who endured the cross and it is with these eyes that we can see the destination of the heavenly holy city. When we see with eyes of faith and we know our help comes from the Lord. We can be sure and certain that the hope of God is real and He always knows best. It is then that the power of life’s circumstances no longer has a hold on us.

God is always good all the time and for that I need to be thankful all the time.
_______________________________________________________________

May you consider this journey of thanksgiving with me, as I strive to be a person of more outflow and a person who is unshakable in all circumstances. May we all remember what God has done and looks forward in thankfulness to the destination.
Thank you to all of our stakeholders, our customers, employees, vendors & partners.
May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving

Veurinks' RV

Meet the Veurinks' RV Sales Manager.

Matt is the son of the General Manager of Veurinks' RV Center, Tim Veurink.

He grew up in Cutlerville, MI and attended South Christian High School. In 2010, Matt graduated from Northwood University in Midland, MI, with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and is an AFIP Certified F&I Professional. He was heavily involved with the extra curricular activities at Northwood University, and enjoyed every aspect of the education he received from there.

NUIAS 2008 TEAM RV

One of his favorite things was being part of the Northwood Auto Show, where the students conduct and present the show on campus. Above, is a photo of his team...they were Team RV and had brought a few RV's up to present.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As he grew up in a family who sells and loves to RV, he developed a passion for the RV lifestyle early on. He enjoys golfing, hunting, boating, Detroit sports games, and traveling.

His favorite place to RV is anyplace that is warm, where he can really enjoy the outdoors.
Matt has been on several RV road trips with his family. He's been RVing all the way up in Northern Michigan, even down South to Florida, to visit his Grandparents.

W.VA Roadtrip

One of his favorite RV road trips was with 7 of his friends from college. They all piled in a Holiday Rambler and cruised on down to West Virginia and did some white water rafting. He also enjoys taking an RV full of friends and head to Detroit, for a Lion's game.

Matt: "One of the main reasons why I like the RV industry is whether you are a family of 8 or a retired couple, you are not limited on where you can travel. There are many options for you to choose from, when selecting an RV that is right for you and your family...as well as the fact that there are so many places you can take an RV. If you don't like your neighbor, you have the ability to leave! If you were in a cottage, you don't really have the ability to do that."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Make sure to say hello to Matt the next time you stop on in!
He will also be at our future RV shows coming up.

Laugh with us and enjoy this funny blooper reel of him too:
